The CFSA Board of Directors, led by President Rodney Robinson (Southern Craft Manufacturing) and Past President Jerry Burchett (PPG Industries), recently selected Nashville as the host city for the 2018 Winter Seminar. The annual event will be held from Thursday to Saturday, March 22 – 24, 2018, at the Sheraton Grand Nashville Downtown located in the city’s Arts District.

Read the full Winter Seminar announcement from the Newsletter.

Nashville is the capital of Tennessee and home to Vanderbilt University. Legendary country music venues include the Grand Ole Opry House, home of the famous “Grand Ole Opry” stage and radio show. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and historic Ryman Auditorium are Downtown, as is the District, featuring honky-tonks with live music, the bars of Broadway Street, and the Johnny Cash Museum, celebrating the singer's life.

The 2018 Winter Seminar will be based in the Sheraton Grand Nashville Downtown, located just steps from the historic Arts District and the center of Music City nightlife. The recently renovated hotel features spacious rooms, an indoor pool & spa, and the trendy Library Bar & Lounge. The hotel also offers a variety of event spaces, including an impressive rooftop dining room. The glass-walled rooftop dining room offers a 360-degree view of the city, and will be the location for two Winter Seminar events.

NEW! Live Country Band for President's Dinner & Dance

In place of the traditional canned music and DJ, the President’s Dinner & Dance will feature a live country band! CFSA is proud to announce that Nashville’s own Ben Daniel & Friends Band will headline this year’s annual gathering. Make sure to bring your dancing shoes up to the Sheraton Grand’s rooftop dining room so you’re ready to two-step on the dance floor after dinner!

Speaker Richard Flint: Professional Motivator

Click here to view a special video message to CFSA from Richard Flint!

“Six Steps to Embracing Change”

As one of America’s top personal development speakers and coaches (he travels and speaks over 210 times per year and personally coaches many businesses and individuals from on the road), Richard has been successfully mentoring and quietly helping professional organizations, large and small businesses, and individuals for over 30 years.

Considered a well guarded secret by companies and organizations due to his results, Richard Flint motivates, inspires, teaches and helps people and companies metamorphosize into their “Power To Be,” so they can Do or Have anything they want. Interestingly, he does it without you having to set goals.

Richard Flint is on a mission (he calls it a Crusade) to help people have their best life possible.  His keynote presentation, “Six Steps to Embracing Change,” is an in-depth program that explores the value and benefit of Change, including:

  •  An examination of the Four-Phase Timetable a company goes through that creates their self-destruction when they resist Change;
  •  Learning the four internal behaviors that define self-destruction;
  •  Exploring why Change is so frightening;
  •  Learning the purpose of Change;
  • Understanding the connection between Change and Improvement; and
  •  Learning the Six Steps to Embracing Change!

NEW FOR 2018: Topgolf

Optional Off-Site Activity - Friday, March 23, 2018

Departure: 11:30 a.m. (lunch included)

Price: $97 per person (includes golf game, lunch, and two beer/wine drink tickets). Full cash bar available.

Join us for a unique spin on the 10th Annual Stephen K. Newcomer Memorial Golf Tournament at Topgolf Nashville!

Topgolf is a new kind of golf experience that combines competition with entertainment. Players hit microchipped golf balls at targets on an outfield. Just picture a larger-than-life-sized outdoor dartboard – but for golf. And for a little friendly rivalry, the high-tech balls instantly score each shot’s accuracy and distance.  The brand-new Nashville location opened in September and features over 100 climate-controlled golf bays split over three stories with a view of the surrounding neighborhood.

Golfers will have the opportunity to eat a lunch buffet in their golf bay while they compete.  Bar service is provided in golf bays and each golfer will be provided two beer and wine drink tickets. A full cash bar is also available.

Topgolf is family-friendly: all ages are welcome to play! Can’t tell a sand wedge from a driver? Then you’re invited! Still not sure about Topgolf? Visit their website,, or contact CFSA with any questions.

Historic Ryman Auditorium Guided Backstage Tour

Optional Off-Site Activity - Saturday, March 24, 2018

Tour Begins: 1:00 p.m. (lunch on your own)

Price: $30 per person (walking distance from hotel)

Long before the Grand Ole Opry moved out to its modern location at the Gaylord Resort, the country’s most famous country radio broadcast hosted sell-out crowds at the Ryman Auditorium for over three decades.

The Ryman Auditorium opened its doors in 1892, over 125 years ago. With the coming of the Grand Ole Opry show in 1943, the Ryman found its identity as the “Mother Church of Country Music.” Musicians ranging from Roy Acuff to James Brown and Patsy Cline to Sheryl Crow have performed on the Ryman stage, making it a historic—as well as a current-day—icon for people everywhere.

The Ryman is a National Historic Landmark and was fully restored to its original splendor—wooden pews and all—in 1994.

Join us on a special behind the scenes tour of the Ryman Auditorium to see how the theater brings a show to life almost every day of the week. The docent-guided tour will tell the history of the theater, highlight famous visitors, and explain the mechanics of running a major tour venue. Visit for more information.
